Gemology

Gemology is the science of jewelry and gemstones. It is a branch of mineralogy and deals with the minerals that are used as gemstones, as well as their varieties, syntheses and imitations.

I essentially use the investigative possibilities of gemmology to answer questions systematically and analytically about the type, origin, location and properties of an examined gemstone .

Natural or synthetic stone?
Have any artificial changes to its properties been made to improve color and/or clarity or is the stone untreated?

We are particularly on the trail of the increasingly common synthetic moissanites, whose optical and physical properties are difficult to distinguish from natural diamonds.

All analyzes are carried out from a professional gemmological point of view using non-destructive methods.
